Candace Rose: Celebrity Interview: Former Baywatch Star & Mom ...

Kelly Packard who many will remember as April Giminski of "Baywatch" fame, is now a busy mom of three and with one on the way. She joined me recently to share her must have tips and ideas for moms on how to plan great summer activities for not just the kids, but the entire family!

? Former Baywatch star and busy mom of three and one on the way, Kelly Packard shares her tips for having a great summer vacation with the kids!

?

?

Candace Rose: As a busy mom with three kids and one on the way (congratulations by the way!) what are some of your favorite things to do with your kids over the summer?

Kelly Packard: "I've been giving that a lot of thought over the summer because I just want it to be special for the kids, because this baby is due at the end of summer so I really want it to be all about the kids and I want them to have a good time. So we actually made a summer calendar and it's hanging on our wall, and they wrote down the things or they told me the things they really want to do, people they want to see, places they want to go. Hopefully we can check off that list by the end of summer and I'm going to bring my digital camera along so I can capture all the memories and then at the end of summer I thought it would be really fun if the kids made their own scrapbooks of their summer adventures."

What kid doesn't love board games and crayons?

?

Candace Rose: With so many families on a budget these days, what are some fun inexpensive activities?

Kelly Packard: "I'm teaching my kids now that it's okay to stay home. You can have just as much fun at home as if you would at an amusement park, and I know for my family we really like to have friends and family over for barbecues and picnics and things like that. I found a few things that are really going to help me out this summer- Bic has a couple products that are going to be great. We actually like going to the beach for the day and bringing our grill or doing a picnic, and this is basically going to replace. This is the FlameDisk and this is going to replace your messy charcoal. You put it in, you light it- it's really easy. And of course using the multipurpose lighter- it makes it easier to light and you can use this for candles (for your citronella candles) to keep the bugs away.

????While I like everybody over, I don't always have time to plan an elaborate meal so I'm looking for great meal options and a good one is Popeyes. They've got great summer meal deals right now and my favorite is their new Rip'n Chick'n. You just tear it apart, you dip it in the sauce and you stick it in your mouth and it's just so good. It's got a kick, so the adults love it and the kids love it too. And of course they have their Cane Sweeeet? Peach Tea. It comes in the gallon jugs so you can serve the whole family, the whole neighborhood if you'd like. And they have their Southern Peach Pie. No picnic is complete without that, so it makes for a really fun barbecue or I should say picnic."

?

Candace Rose: Do you have any creative ideas for thrills and excitement in your own backyard?

Kelly Packard: "For me I don't want my kids on the computer or playing video games this summer. I just really would rather that they get outside and do things that we used to do as kids- games such as horseshoes and stickball and hide and seek- all those games can be just as fun now. It's hot out where we are when we do a lot of water things and we don't have to leave the house to do that, you don't have to spend money. I want to try to rent a movie projector and put it on a sheet and have a movie night. I just want to show them that lasting memories can be made just by being together; you don't have to go anywhere and this summer's going to have to be a true test for me and I'm hoping that a lot of moms try to do that too."

?

Swimming is a great activity for summer

Candace Rose: Do you have any other suggestions for what parents can do with their kids as the day winds down?

Kelly Packard: "Like I said, bringing out old board games and things like that just to wind everybody down and just be together and the key is just think about it this way- summer flies and before you know it it's over and you just want to have those memories. In capturing those memories you'll know that you've accomplished something and the kids will remember it forever."

?

Candace Rose: Do you have any additional tips or information you'd like to share?

Kelly Packard: "Yeah, MoreTipsForYou.com has everything we talked about and then some, so you can go check that out if you have any other questions or if moms want to find out some fun stuff for summer."

Top Tips For Investing In The Stock Market - Forex Trading Strategies

There is so much written on the topic of investing. Often people waste lots of time reading in-dept articles about stock market investing and then feel even more confused about the subject. So what are the underlying fundamentals about investing that you need to know? This article is going to cover some of the things you should know when getting started.

When you plan your portfolio diversification, remember there are a lot of different factors involved in diversification; it?s not just about different sectors. Chose only the strategies that move you toward your goal. Still, it is a good idea to represent multiple sectors in your portfolio while also pursuing other diversification criteria.

Begin by investing in stocks that you know. If you have heard that a stock has done well before or there is an industry that is familiar to you, purchase a couple of shares. That way, you can become more comfortable with the stock market and assess your own level of tolerance when it comes to risks. You also will get extra motivation to keep investing because you?ll get some gains immediately on this stock.

Think about the products and services you use when evaluating a common stock. Your gut instincts may give you many good answers. After doing your homework on a particular company, ask yourself if you?d use what they are selling. If you don?t, it?s not a good investment. You will also learn if you are qualified to make judgements on the company.

Buying dividend-paying stocks is an investment strategy worth pursuing. So, should the stock?s value decrease, you will still get a dividend and offset part of your losses. Should the price of the stock increase, dividends will provide you with a bonus, added onto the bottom line. They can also provide you with a periodic income.

Consider purchasing a good investment software package. The software lets you track stocks and their prices for better market analysis. Investment software can also be helpful when reviewing your portfolio and ensuring that your holdings are diverse enough. Many software packages exist so look online for reviews and information about which ones have proven to be most beneficial to investors.

Once you have narrowed down your choices of stocks, you should invest no more than 10 percent of your money into a single option. This will greatly reduce your losses should the stock rapidly decline in the future.

Stay realistic with your investment expectations. It is well-known that stock market rewards don?t happen immediately, unless you partake in high-risk trading which can result in a lot of failure. By knowing this, you can stay away from costly investment mistakes.

As this article stated previously, you can make a good income by investing in stocks. Once you are aware of what you are doing, you will be shocked at how much you really can earn. Utilize the tips that have been given to you, and go out there and make some money.

How Social Media Is Used for Breast Cancer Awareness | Patricia ...

Social media provides tremendous opportunities for inexpensive word-of-mouth marketing thus allowing non-profit organizations to reach out to more people than ever before.

With regard to breast cancer awareness campaigns, some organizations using social media to spread the word include Susan G. Komen, The Breast Cancer Site, The American Cancer Society, and countless foundations and private hospitals.

Susan G Komen for the Cure is one of the most effective Facebook campaigns against breast cancer

Spreading the Word with Social Media

TweetCaster

The popular Twitter mobile app went pink in support of breast cancer awareness in October 2011. They even?offered a special pink version of their app to users who purchased TweetCast PINK and donated 50% of the proceeds to the campaign.

General Electric

In September 2011 General Electric (GE) created the?HealthyImagination Challenge?to?identify and accelerate ideas to advance breast cancer early detection and diagnostics, and ultimately help save lives affected by breast cancer.

As part of the campaign, GE?is on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube as well as their own ?Healthy Outlook Blog? actively engaging online communities in?spreading the word. In this YouTube video for instance, six GE employees share their stories about surviving breast cancer. Take a look:

Through these social initiatives GE is also providing screening to women who do not have access to such services.

Estee Lauder

Global cosmetic company, Estee Lauder dedicated part of their website to educating people on healthy living and breast cancer prevention, in addition to the latest breast cancer news and updates. Estee Lauder also dedicated an entire Facebook fan page to breast cancer awareness.

Other Successful Breast Cancer Campaigns

In 2010, the YouTube ?Pink Glove Dance? video done by the Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Oregon proved to be a compelling content marketing study and an online sensation. The dance was meant to raise awareness for early detection and to encourage those in the fight against breast cancer.

With over 1.8 million hits on YouTube, this campaign was so successful that Medline, the Chicago-area company that made the pink gloves and produced the video, decided to create a sequel?involving more than 4,000 healthcare workers and breast cancer survivors.

Key Takeaway

There?s no denying that the effects of successful social media campaigning for breast cancer have led to more awareness about the disease. Both Susan G. Komen for the Cure and The American Cancer Society have stated that they received a significant increase of Facebook fans and inquires for more information about the disease.

Social media has proved to be a powerful tool for word-of-mouth marketing in the non-profit sector.

Telescope instrument flies to US

29 May 2012 Last updated at 10:19 ET By Jonathan Amos Science correspondent

Europe shipped one of its big contributions to the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) on Tuesday.

The Mid Infra-Red Instrument (Miri) was flown out of London Heathrow on a British Airways jet, bound for Nasa's Goddard Space Flight Center.

JWST will be the successor to Hubble, and aims to track down the very first stars to shine in the Universe.

Miri has been built by a pan-European consortium led from the UK and Nasa's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL).

It will play a central role in the quest to identify that "first light".

The 120m-euro (?95m; $150m) instrument, tucked inside its protective box, was loaded on to BA flight 217 for Washington Dulles International Airport.

The ride across the Atlantic was due to last about 7.5 hours.

On landing, Miri will be driven the relatively short distance around the US capital's "Beltway" to Goddard where it will be unpacked on Wednesday.

Nasa engineers will then integrate Miri into the telescope structure prior to further testing.

Webb's launch is planned for 2018.

"Miri's box is a standard environment-controlled air-freight container, but we built a special structure inside to hold this incredibly valuable instrument," explained Piyal Samara-Ratna, the mechanical engineer from Leicester University overseeing the transfer.

"It has vibration isolating mounts to prevent any shock loads going through Miri. We also have sensors in there as well, so we would know if it got bumped.

"It's impossible to insure something like Miri, which represents the time and effort of so many people in Europe and the United States."

BBC correspondent Jonathan Amos gets to see the Mid Infra-Red Instrument (Miri) close up before its shipment to the US

JWST is a Nasa project, with key inputs from the European and Canadian space agencies.

As well as two of its four instruments, Europe is providing the Ariane 5 rocket to put the observatory in space.

The telescope is a huge technological challenge.

It will carry a 6.5m primary mirror (more than double the width of Hubble's main mirror), and this must be folded to fit inside the Ariane launcher. So too must the giant sunshield that will protect Webb's sensitive vision.

The telescope is being tuned to see the cosmos in the infrared. This is the part of the electromagnetic spectrum in which the first luminous objects - the first stars and galaxies - should be detectable.

Miri was sent to Heathrow from the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory in Oxfordshire where its final assembly took place.

It was accompanied by 15 other boxes of support equipment.

The main container carried the flags of all the European nations that have worked on the instrument and the signatures of its principal scientist, Prof Gillian Wright, and its project manager, John Thatcher from the Astrium space company. A message read simply, "First and best".

It is expected the other Webb instruments will also finish their builds very shortly.

• James Webb's main mirror has around seven times more collecting area than Hubble's 2.4m primary mirror
• The sunshield is about 22m by 12m. There will be a 300-degree difference in temperature between the two sides
• James Webb's instruments must be very cold to ensure their own infrared glow does not swamp the observations
• The mission will launch in 2018 on an Ariane rocket. The observing position will be 1.5 million km from Earth
