One of the advantages of the Philippines outsourcing business is that the country has a large number of working age Filipinos that will help keep labor costs competitive. Add that to the fact that outsourced employees from the Philippines are highly skilled, technically proficient, have excellent communication skills, and offer cultural fit and you have a combination that can certainly help keep Philippine BPO on top.
And the Philippine government would also like to see that the Philippine BPO sector remains on top of the global business process outsourcing industry. Philippine President Benigno S. Aquino III, in the recent International Contact Center Conference and Expo, said that his administration will continue to support the BPO sector to help it maintain its status as one of the leaders in global BPO.
Pres. Aquino mentioned a number of instances of government support to the local business process outsourcing sector. They include the implementation of the plan to make the Philippines more competitive in KPO or knowledge process outsourcing through a partnership with the Commission on Higher Education, the different stakeholders in the Philippine BPO industry, and the Department of Science and Technology.
The government has also implemented the Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP) which helps in skills training across various sectors. Pres. Aquino said that as of August of this year, P769 million has been allotted to scholarship programs for the local business process outsourcing sector.
There are also programs that have been implemented and steps taken to help improve the quality of education. Among them are the implementation of the ?K+12 program? as well as the additional government spending for State Universities and Colleges.
Aside from all that, Pres. Aquino pointed out that there are learning institutions like the University of Makati and the Asia Pacific College that are running a Service Management Program which helps prepare individuals who are interested in pursuing a career in the business process outsourcing sector.
According to Pres. Aquino, the future of the Philippines? business process outsourcing sector depends on the cooperation among the private companies, the government, and the Filipino people. The partnerships that have been forged to make the aforementioned programs possible can certainly help the Philippines outsourcing business remain competitive.
