Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida confronts tradition and defies an age-old custom that inadvertently unleashes chaos, and forces her to discover the true meaning of bravery.

MY THOUGHTS

I received a copy of Brave. From the first time I saw one of the previews for this movie I wanted to see it. The main character, a young girl named Merida, looked like such a great character. I can now say for certain that I was right. Not only is she every bit as wonderful a character as I?d hoped, but the movie was also amazing and as good as I?d hoped. Actually, the movie was a little better then I?d hoped. Brave takes place in Scotland. Merida is a Princess, daughter of King Fergus and Queen Elinor. Merida is very displeased with the path that her parents are mapping out for her life, so she decides to change it. First she disguises herself and competes in a competition for her own hand. Then, she is led into the forsts by some Will-O-Wisps, where she meets an old witch. She asks the witch to give her a potion that will change her fate. Her wish is granted, but not in any way that she expected. Her mother is turned into a bear, further stressing the already weak bond between mother and daughter. King Fergus hates bears. When he learns there is a bear in the castle he leads a charge against it. Merida must now work to save her mother before time runs out and her mother is a bear forever and the kingdom ends up in ruins. I absolutely LOVE this movie. It?s got a great storyline and lots of humor. This is a must see!

• Brawl in the Hall ? A fascinating and hilarious inside look at the process of creating ?Brave?s? fighting Scots, through animation, crowd simulation and fight choreography ? not to mention a room full of grunting men whose vocal chortles added authenticity to the raucous scene.
